Getting to know your Therapist, Kate
How long have you been in the beauty business?
I have been in the beauty industry for nearly 5 years.
How long have you been working at Revive & Rejuvenate?
After moving back to my hometown, Hamilton, I started up my own beauty salon from my parents property. I have been operating my salon for just over 12 months. Prior to opening my salon, I was working at a busy salon in Brisbane, Queensland, which was a great experience and allowed me to grow so much as a therapist!
What do you love most about being a beauty therapist?
I love being able to improve a clients mood after their treatment with me. Whether they've had a relaxing massage or their skin feels velvety soft after a facial, I love that I can make a client feel better about themselves after a treatment!
What is your favourite treatment to perform?
I love relaxation treatments! Swedish massage and facials are my passion.
What training courses have you undertaken?
I have completed a Diploma of Beauty Therapy through the Australian National College of Beauty. I have also undertaken many short courses such as Dermalogica, further waxing training, advanced skin treatments and IPL (permanent hair removal). I have also completed certificate 4 in Business.
How do you offer your clients great customer service?
I'm blessed to have such beautiful clients it is so easy to go above and beyond their expectations. I am quite good at remembering faces and names so I try to make everyone feel like a VIP when they enter our salon. Being a small town it's common to bump into my clients while out and about, so it's nice to get to know them out of the salon as well.
What do you like most about working at Revive & Rejuvenate?
Having a 9 month old baby makes having my own salon really convenient. I can work around when my clients need me and when my little man needs me too! By working for myself I can focus on providing my clients with the treatments I am most passionate about so as I can perform to the highest of standards! I can also spend more time getting to know my clients because I allow plenty of time in between treatments so there is no rush and that makes the whole experience much more enjoyable for both my clients and myself.
What interested you about the Beauty Therapy industry?
Originally when I started my Diploma of Beauty Therapy, I was crazy about make-up, but since I've had more experience in the industry, this has definitely changed! I have developed a passion for skin and relaxation treatments, I love to educate my clients on the importance of skincare, it's quite surprising that so many people don't take care of their skin!
What do you think sets Revive & Rejuvenate apart from other salons?
The relaxing vibe when you walk into the salon! I go above and beyond to ensure my clients feel comfortable. I don't plaster myself in makeup, I don't have perfect skin or have my nails freshly manicured all the time, which I find intimidating when I visit a beauty salon, i'm just a normal country girl here to meet my clients needs and when my clients are happy, that makes me feel happy too!
What do you do in your spare time?
My baby boy, Mason, takes up most of my spare time! But I enjoy going to the beach, going for walks and having the odd wine with friends.
